Work group EXCHANgE Sachsen-Anhalt

Whether European Volunteer Service, international youth encounter, work camp or study visit for youth workers – International youth work has many faces.
Its core is the personal encounter of young people from different countries.
Through direct contact and the pedagogic process that is guided by trained specialists, international youth work helps to question prejudices, to put into perspective one’s personal circumstances and to reduce anxieties against the unknown.
Young people gain linguistic, intercultural and social skills. They have got the opportunity to get to know other cultures and structures of societies, to deal with them and to understand them better. Emotions and sense are touched and that is why youth learn to assume social responsibility.

In 2002, EXCHANgE Sachsen-Anhalt – a work group of organisations and institutions that are active in the field of international youth work in Saxony-Anhalt was founded. Main working fields of EXCHANgE are networking, counselling, advanced training and development of the activities of the international youth work in Saxony-Anhalt. It stands up for a stronger networking of the actors and responsible bodies to ensure the common use of resources and knowledge about partners, subsidies, methods and specialists. In addition to various meetings, advanced trainings and conferences a survey about international youth work in Saxony-Anhalt was published for the years 2001 to 2003.
The activities of EXCHANgE Sachsen-Anhalt are coordinated by the LKJ Sachsen-Anhalt (Association for Cultural Child and Youth Education in the Land Saxony-Anhalt).
